Faliraki: The Resort That Has a Little of Everything

Sitting at the northern end of the island’s east coast, Faliraki is just 15 kilometres from Rhodes Town — usually under half an hour by car. Once known mostly for its bars and clubs, it has matured over the years into something broader and more rounded, and today it works just as well as a family base as it does a night out.

Somewhere to stay for everyone

Accommodation runs the full range. You’ll find large all-inclusive hotels with pools and waterslides at one end, small family-run B&Bs at the other, and every level in between — apartments, mid-size hotels, and self-catering options. Whatever your budget or style, Faliraki tends to have a version of it.

The beach and the daytime

Faliraki’s headline attraction is its enormous sandy beach — one of the finest on Rhodes. It runs almost five kilometres, from the small harbour at the southern end up to a much quieter northern stretch, with sunloungers, food and drink spots, and watersports vendors along the way. Boat tours, boat hire and scuba courses are all available right at the shore. Beyond the sand, the town has everything you need: restaurants of every kind, supermarkets, shops, and car-hire outlets for exploring further afield.

Evenings in Faliraki

The nightlife is genuinely good, and it caters to more than one crowd. There are the energetic bars and clubs that younger visitors love, but plenty of quieter options too — karaoke nights, Greek dancing and live music turn up regularly. For many, the evening is simply a relaxed dinner in a good restaurant followed by a drink or two, a glass of local wine, or a cocktail at one of the many bars.

Plenty to do nearby

Around Faliraki you’ll find a mini-golf course, an aquarium, a trampoline park and an excellent water park. Just to the south lies the stunning Anthony Quinn Bay at Ladiko — a beautiful sandy beach in a dramatic setting that shouldn’t be missed. Faliraki also makes a handy launch point for the island: head north to lose yourself in the Old Town’s cobbled streets, or south toward Afandou and on to Lindos, about 40 minutes away.
